Early Life and Education

Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch CBE was born on July 19, 1976, in London, England. His parents, Wanda Ventham and Timothy Carlton, are both actors.

Career

Cumberbatch began his acting career in the theater. He has appeared in numerous productions, including "Hamlet," "Romeo and Juliet," and "The Crucible." In 2010, he made his breakthrough role as the titular detective in the BBC's "Sherlock." He has since gone on to star in a variety of films and television series, including "Doctor Strange," "The Imitation Game," and "Patrick Melrose."

Awards and Accolades

Cumberbatch has received numerous awards for his work, including a BAFTA Award, an Emmy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. In 2015, he was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to drama.
